Dillon Danis took aim at Paige VanZant after she was put down in the opening round of her boxing debut last night.

The controversial former Bellator star engaged in a feud with VanZant during the build-up to her first fight under the Misfits Boxing banner against Elle Brooke in Texas. She had claimed that he wasn’t a ‘real fighter’ during an interview, which caused the pair to go back-and-forth.

But it seems that Danis may have got the last laugh as he took to social media to mock the ex-UFC fighter in a rare tweet that survived being deleted within hours. VanZant has yet to respond to the diss as she opts to post minimal social media content.

Despite the bout being almost split by bookies ahead of the first bell, many believed VanZant’s extensive fight experience would be enough to dominate Brooke, who first started training in 2022. But her three years out of the ring cost her early as the ring rust showed and she was dropped with a right hand.

Brooke landed an impressive combo that earned her a 10-8 round, but VanZant managed to get a strong foothold in proceedings shortly after. The pair served up four more exciting rounds, with fans divided in their scoring on social media.

Ultimately, two of the judges scored it in favour of one woman, while the deciding vote declared a draw between the pair. It was the second draw of the night after a prelim bout between Alaena Vampira and Lauren Baker.

Heading into Saturday’s fight, VanZant appeared to have more of a feud going with Danis than she did with Brooke. She even took to social media to share a number of mocking posts about the former Bellator star, while keeping cordial with her actual opponent.

The feud began when, during a promotional interview with the Misfits YouTube channel, VanZant joked that Danis was “not a fighter”. When host Chris Ridgway asked about MMA fighters failing to successfully cross over to boxing, he used the jiu-jitsu expert as an example.

But VanZant laughed off the likeness, saying: “Dillon Danis is not a fighter, he’s not a fair comparison, give me some other examples of MMA fighters.” When Ben Askren was later suggested, she noted that he was more of a wrestler than a boxer during his fight career.

The comment led to Danis making his usual crude remarks towards VanZant in a social media outburst, to which she replied in a lengthy video. She also claimed that he should fight her husband Austin Vanderford, who is a former Bellator middleweight title contender.

But Danis could have ended up getting the last laugh as he shared a post from the official Misfits and DAZN X-Series account showing VanZant being dropped. He simply tweeted in response: “Real fighter” dropped by a p*** star.”

Brooke has featured in adult films and runs a fan subscription site that has made her incredibly wealthy in her early 20s. She began boxing at the start of 2022 and last night’s fight was her sixth across two different promotions.

The bout was an historic one as it was the first time in Misfits’ 15 events that a show was headlined by a women’s fight. And immediately promoters and Mams Taylor claimed that the fight will need to be run back, with VanZant initially teasing Dubai as a potential location.

But she later changed her tune, sending a cryptic Instagram post that simply read: “Rematch, August, O2 Arena.” Bloody Elbow sources have confirmed that the promotion are working on a potential pay-per-view event at the iconic London venue for late August.

The O2 hosted the first ever Misfits Boxing event when YouTube star KSI faced two opponents in one night. He stopped rapper Swarmz and boxer Luis Pineda in a massive night at the sold-out London venue, and the promotion has gone on to great success.
