He was just so hard to understand sometimes, and he tried to piece together so many texts from so many areas that it just became a confusing mess. He doesn't seem to have any solid written lectures prepared, and it looks like he just wings it as he goes (hence he spaces every word out with "um" or "uh"). I wouldn't take this class if I were you.

Thank goodness this term is almost over, Dr. Earle seems to try hard but he does not connect students to the material and wanders off topic a lot. I attended another college and I expected better from a UBC Professor. Also seems that flirtatious behavior and personal conversations with students are his norm, he dates his students, Give me a break:(

Dr. Earle is just bad the students dont even show up anymore. His is by far the worst lecuturer I have ever had, my High School teachers were better. Weirdo can only get a girl if they are young, naive and need a good grade. My friend said his current "girlfriend/student" is pretty but must be a head case, have to be to date this fossil.

Really uncomfortable, he had a weird attitude female students and said I HAD to show up to office hours to do well, which I did show up for. He did not talk at all about the upcoming assignment or anything really related; he made really weird suggestions, I did not feel safe or okay. I'm glad though that SVPRO was able to support me.

This guy is terrible, I'm sure you may have heard. So unrealistic, his syllabus will have 5 new readings "required" each day every week and he will not even go over all of them but will still have it be testable. His lectures reaches outside of the readings too! Let's not support someone who preys on his students- take another class, not worth it

I would not reccomend Dr. Earle, I have been in his class a week and he is ramble and is hard to understand, not a clear communicator and did not know till I came to this site he is having an affair with an undergrad like me. That is just gross and unethical on his part, I have to feel sorry for her, he is no catch :) dropping this class!

I have never had such an incompetent professor. Marking seemed rushed, even though our 3 pg. papers took 3+ weeks to return and included minimal feedback. Lectures were disorganized and were frequently off topic (we talked a lot about contemporary music). If you're actually interested in Romanticism, take this class with another prof.

Well thats all I needed to hear, I am dropping this professor, Why doesnt anyone tell you this stuff, I was signed up for the Engl 100 level class he is teaching, I dont need some old leech trying to get lucky with all the girls. You would think for the reputation that UBC has they could do a better job of policeing faculty behavior :(

Dr. Earle always seems nervous, rambles when he teaches and would not recommend his classes, saw the comments about his ethics and dating an undergrad (gross) I took a look and UBC has him scheduled to teach freshman English class next term. Really UBC way to support the Patriarchy!, Rooster in the Hen house. I say drop his classes immediately!!

He rambles/repeats a whole lot of nothing. It's like he's high or something or he's thinking of the next word to say. Not only that but the discussion posts are horrible too. So much disorganized content and YOU have to go fish for the questions that are sandwiched in between. You get docked marks by -25% for every day missed. What's the point?

OMG, very sad, I had Bo as an undergrad (Grad School now) although not polished lecturer he appeared good, hearted kind and a feminist issues champion. Shocked Dr. Earle would disregard his moral and ethical responsibilities. As TA's they warn us about misconduct, no excuse for a prof, my prof now said dept knows and wheels of justice are turning.

I had Bo Earle for Engl last year, boring lectures, but thought he was solid on feminist issues, Just saw the pic on insta and a string on reddit, Romance with undergrad:( , UBC no safe space, if his fault abuse of power, if the student engaged clear favoritism, cant trust faculty so I am doing a complaint and will see if UBC condems or condones!

Bo earle was a disappointing prof. he grades assignments late and talks a lot but not really saying much. his guidelines are unclear and overall unreliable (don't bother asking him to write a referral cus he wont :D). also is romantically seeing a student :( how unethical.

saw pictures confirming that he is in a romantic relationship with a student (he taught her this summer, now they're dating??) I'm wondering when this relationship started, and if it was when he was teaching her. creepy guy, needs to be reported for breaking UBC guidelines around sexual misconduct

Really liked Prof Earle, and the emphasis he put on gender in his analyses of Romantic texts. But then I found out he was dating his student. Disappointed and disgusted... For someone who claims to be so invested in feminist issues, I'm surprised he can't see how problematic his actions are. Would not be comfortable taking another class with him.

Bo talks a lot (of nothing). Most of the info is not pertinent because the class is very disorganized and chaotic. Unclear guidelines and expectations. Seemed nice -- until I found out he's actually been seeing a former student outside of school -- not platonically :0 ! It's giving breach of conduct, it's giving somebody tell this man's mother!
