  I have never in my life seen a professor worse at teaching than ECON 102 with ROBERT GATEMAN. Not accessible online or after class, lectures were so useless but somehow MANDATORY attendance????? Lectures did not help at all, GBOOK was so random and confusing and lectures were not a reflection of ANYTHING in the midterms/final/weekly quizzes.

  He is a bit of an oddball, but he's an excellent lecturer- very funny, and good at keeping a class engaged. His tests are fairly abstract, but review the Gbook and you'll be fine! My biggest criticism is that he would occasionally make distasteful comments in class. Had him for 101 and 102 and I will take another class for him if given the chance.

  He has an iconic G-Book, which is a collection of all the slides used in class, and the material that will be tested on. Weekly quizzes were due from the online Pearson textbook, but the readings were entirely different, so it would often feel like two completely different courses. His exams are hard but are manageable if the content is understood.

  You're on your own for most of this course. His textbook is confusing so you'll have to listen carefully during his lectures or you'll be completely lost (like me). He doesn't upload any course material nor midterm practices so gl studying by urself. He makes good jokes sometimes though, lovely guy, just not so lovely professor

  I totally agree Gateman is a fun prof, he is trying to keep up with the young trend, his concepts of teaching sounds very inspiring, however his way of teaching is quite bouncing around. The notes confuses me and you might need to pay extra hard work to really understand the concepts. Probably read everything on the textbook.

  The biggest problem is that students have no access to the past midterms or finals and that the actual exam's solutions are not available and even TAs can only confidently answer questions they graded. So if you happen to think like the prof does, you have absolutely no trouble getting A in this class. But if not, you cannot improve your grades.

  cracks good jokes sometimes but the questions on the tests are so abstract..? I often ended up throwing in random concepts to explain my random answers. Interesting man.

  Gateman genuinely tries to make economics interesting and wants to teach you how to critically think. However, there is such a huge leap between what he teaches and what he asks in the exam that it leaves you lost as to how to utilize your economic knowledge. We were being tested on our intuition more than anything.

  Professor Gateman has recieved a bit of flack on this page, so I was a bit nervous about taking 310. My worries were unfounded, as my experiences with Gateman have been positive. He is a tough grader and asks difficult questions, but holds great lectures and as long as you read the course material well, you will pass this course relatively easily.

  The class basically consists of Gateman reading off his $30 "Gbook," which is just a summarization of slides.His lectures were extremely boring, I found it easier learning from the textbook. Decent prof with a sense of humour, though midterms were pretty hard to study for since the questions are super conceptual.

  Gateman's lectures are always engaging and he's skilled at simplifying complicated, sometimes tedious economic concepts with good analogies. He's aware of when the class might struggle to keep up with graph-heavy chapters and repeats himself frequently. His tests are concept-heavy but keep up with Pearson text readings and you'll be alright.

  Gateman reads off of his slides, which he makes his student purchase as a "g-book". His exams are notorious for being hard, especially because he uses odd examples and makes you use the correct concept to answer it. He also makes racist comments in lectures, many times the entire lecture room gasps and everyone goes silent. Terrible prof

  Don't let the very conservative things he says deter you. He's pretty funny and silly and puts enough emphasis on the concepts you must know for the exams so that you can go read about them on your own. Make sure you backup your understanding by reading because sometimes he can oversimplify stuff. I did enjoy his lectures!

  Wants you to buy his notes and makes it impossible to write your own notes because of his lecture pacing. Have the material drilled into your mind. A pretty good lecturer, I found him engaging even though I hated the material. Do not come to his class late (or worse fall asleep) unless you want to be publicly called out. Isn't accomodating.

  Gateman is an entertaining professor. I never attended any lectures since taking textbook notes and using the MyLab practice questions was more effective. His G-Book helped my friends who attended all his lectures but otherwise it is difficult to decipher and is very unclear and unstructured. His midterm and final test the last chapter learned.
